Mac lessons for the n3wb
So, while a lot of things are easy to figure out or are self explanatory on the Mac, there are other things that are so different about it that I can't wrap my brain around. A lot of it is 'the way you do it on a PC' versus 'the way you do it on a Mac'. And more specifically, the programs that are used to do such things. Yesterday, by a stroke of luck, I got some help from Richard with iTunes and iPhoto. With his help, I was able to make a photo album (mostly of the kids) and upload it! So, go see the prettiness! I still have a little tinkering to do to make things just the way I want, but for my purposes, mission accomplished! I also got a little instruction on how to make iTunes play nicely with my music, so that's good! This means I need to reload my iPod again, but I'm getting good at that! So anyway, thanks for your help Richard! I'll probly bug you again for more :) On an irritating note, the bakery across the street from where I usually get my coffee was out of raw sugar! How does a place that serves coffee run out of raw sugar when it's one of the most-used items? First, their coffee is pretty substandard to begin with. Then they run out of raw sugar? Why not just use white sugar, you ask? Because, it changes the taste! But what really pissed me off was that the chick who served me (who doesn't like me anyway) blew me off like it was no big deal. Damn, I hate that place! However, I continue to torture myself by going there. What I should just do is get myself a french press for work, some beans, a grinder, a supply of creamer, sugar, and splenda, and just make coffee at the office. Seriously. *shakes head*. But then I have to justify the up-front cost of doing so. Why do I make stuff so complicated? :P Tonight, I think Josh and I are playing w0w. Tomorrow looks empty, so that's good. Then I'm going to dinner with "I" on Saturday. Dunno where we're going...maybe I should do some research and find a place this time? Missy? Research food places? Oh, well...we'll see!

Xmas gifts!
Well, it was a good Xmas/Birthday this year as far as getting cool stuff! Last night, Josh and I went to Adri's for Xmas dinner. And we weren't told that there would be presents, but there were! I was half-drunk (and sick and exhausted), so I remember most of who gave what, but there are a few I can't remember. At any rate, everything that was given to me seemed to be like they knew what my tastes were! And that's awsome...cause that means people really *are* thinking about me, and it's nice to know that people pay attention :) So, presents.... 1. 2 beakers (to be used as glasses, measuring devices, etc) from Aran - if you know this guy, this definatly his style! 2. A book called the curious incident of the dog in the night-time - supposedly a good read! 3. A cool wood box filled with Reidel wine tumblers and a nice bottle of wine from Ivan - He knows what I like! And, I put the cool wood box to use! It now houses all of my crochet supplies! 4. From Len & Kelle, a cool voodoo doll brought back from New Orleans. 5. Another book called How To Live With A Neurotic Cat. Awsome! 6. A cool LED candle I have yet to figure out because I'm sick and my head is too full to comprehend such a thing atm :P. 7. A great gift for me whois always cold, this awsome GIR thermal shirt! And from Josh... 1. An awsome t-shirt that every metal fan should have that says, If It Ain't Metal, It Ain't Music. Hehe..yay! 2. Another awsome t-shirt that every music snob should have. 3. Sesame Street: Old School Vol.1 and Vol. 2 from Josh (I've wanted these since they came out!). 4. And last but not least, a replacement headset so I can talk to my friends while we all play w0w! Add in my iPo, my Mac, and the Super Duper Awsome Sauce Blanket, and it was a great year! And many thanks to everyone who remembered and thought of me. It's greatly appreciated! Hope everyone else had a good Xmas! And now, I must go to bed. I'm exhausted, this cold is kicking my ass, and I think I might have a touch of the stomach flu now as well.

Spoiled
Man, I've made out like a bandit this year! First, I got my 160gb iPod from Josh for my boofday. I wasn't so sure about it at first, but I heart it now. Listening to whatever I want whenever I want is teh awsome. The only pain in the ass thing is that now that I have my Mac, it's formatted for a Mac and my PC at work won't recognize it. The fix for that is just to plug the speakers in directly to the iPo, but I miss the functionality of using WinAmp, and now I gotta wait until I get home to push the songs to Last.fm. Oh well! A small price to pay for such a cool toy. Next, my dad got me a 20" iMac! I got it yesterday! I got it all set up, tinkered around for awhile by myself and got all my data moved over, then Steph & Whit came over to show me some things I didn't know and hook me up with some other programs I wasn't aware of. It's so compact! And pretty. And I installed w0w and fired it up and holy *crap* the picture is *beautiful*! Crystal clear...very crispy..I can't wait to run a dungeon on that thing :) I'm gonna go home tonight and switch a few things out and around, but it didn't take long to get a good setup. And Apple made it *really* easy with Mac101. It's actually written in english! I reccomend it for anyone switching. Lastly, I got a big box from my mommy today. It's contents consisted of a huge hand-crochet'd blanket with 2 matching pillows. This thing is *awsome*. I will take a picture and post it later. It's purple with blue flowers and green leaves. Totally my colors! I love it. I can't wait to tell my mom how much I like it! I have this thing for hand-made items. Namely blankets and baked goods. But this thing is completely awsome, and I can't wait to get it home. It's so great that even tho it's supposed to go on the bed, I dunno if I want to keep it away from public view! Oh well, I'll figure it out later :) So, it's been a great year for gifts for me! I usually don't ask for anything, but it was nice to be surprised this year. Thanks everyone :)

Adventures in healthland
So, I hadn't heard anything from any doctor's office since I had talked to my surgeon on Friday, so I called his office this morning. On Friday, he said someone would call me from IdiotDoctor's office. Today he called me and said that yeah, IdiotDoctor refused to see me and wouldn't even tell the surgeon why. Uh...der? The whole thing stinks to high heaven. First they claimed that they read my explanation of what was going on, but didn't, now he refuses to see me at all. Maybe he was just embarassed and wouldn't apologize and the only thing he could do to save face was refuse to see me? Who knows. So, my surgeon called this other guy and personally spoke to him and the guy said he would see me. So, I'm waiting on a call from his office. Sheesh!

w00h00!!
My mac was shipped from Union City yesterday! It arrived at Josh's office today! Which means I'll have it tonight when I get home! Which means I will probly have thrown it out the window by the time bedtime rolls around! :P So, yay for new puter! Yaaaaay! However, this comic pretty much sums up what I know about the Mac. Oh well...I guess I'll learn! Is it time to go home yet? Is it, is it, is it?

The Weekend happs
Twas' another good weekend! Friday, I went with "I" to a his company holiday party. First, we went to this fru-fru hippy-dippy eat-raw-everything place at 20th & Mission that was actually half-way decent. Even tho I prefer not to eat that way, it really *is* good for you! After that, we arrived at the party and mingled a little and somehow by a struck of luck, Norm showed up to crash the party! Yay! So, we were drunk and merry together and everyone had a good time. I think my head hit the pillow at 3:30a. I had this craving for weeks for a bagel with cream cheese, lox, capers, and red onions. So, we went to Fellini for breakfast. And said craving was had! Plus free Mimosas for switching tables! I was full, happy, and buzzed after that! I went home a couple of hours later and spent the rest of the day chilling with Josh. I've been getting ready to switch to a Mac, so there has been a lot of backing up to do, going thru files that are 6-7 years old, organizing music, blahblahblah. So, I did some of that on Saturday. And yesterday, I loaded up my 4gig Nano for Smooty. Then I decided that 4 gigs wasn't enough, so I'd burn her a DVD full of mp3s also....which turned into 7 DVD's. Oops. :P. So, she'll have lots and lots to listen to for quite a while! It's going out today, so she should have it before next week. Merry Xmas! Yesterday morning, I got up around 10, had my coffee, and got Smooty's music thing going. I also talked to my dad, who finally ordered my new machine! It should be here this week! Yay! After some careful planning and backing up, I think I'm all ready to move platforms! God help me! While I was doing the music thing, there were various people in and out of our house yesterday for a day of Rock Band and GH. It was fun as usual, and as usual, we pissed off the guy who lives above me. I think we finally found a volume that will suit his tastes (cause I can't turn it down any more and still hear the damn game) and maybe that should fix things. But he still refuses to have the balls to confront us directly. Instead, he leaves leary notes and drops things on his floor to make it seem like the damn building is coming down. Hopefully this will stop! Because if I have to go confront him directly, with homemade cookies and beer in hand, there will be words! I really really *really* hate passive aggressive people. Really. It ocurred to me last night after I had gotten in bed and gotten comfy that maybe I forgot to reset the alarm after Josh got up at 9:30a on Friday...but nah, I would have changed it back by now, so why worry? I got out of bed this morning, looked at the clock, and it was 8:27 instead of 7:27a. Oops! So, I threw on some clothes and left the house. I was only 15 mins late for work! No big deal tho. I don't normally take lunches so it balances itself out. My fone rang, and it was the county's office. Apparently when I went to renew my notary, I left out my middle initial in one signature, so they needed me to drive to Martinez to fix it. Oy. Fine...whatever! So, I drove over there. *Holy cow*. Talk about Janksville! It's cramped, dirty, totally redneck...I swear I was back in Anytowne, IN! And then I went into the building...wow, these people were scary! The 'customers' were these half-dressed dirty rednecks who looked like it was time for their next fix. And the people working in the offices were your typical county people: Nice, but rather large, and it looked liked they had worked there most of their adult lives. The lady that helped me was really nice and cool, and I got out of there with cash to spare! I had to use the bathroom, but judging from the people who were in that place, I decided to go disease free and wait until I got back to the office. I mean it, this towne is *nasty*. On my way out of towne, I decided it needed a slogan revamp. "Martinez: Why inbreeding and drugs are bad and education is good!". After a quick stop at the bank, I made it back to the office in one piece. Yay! There's not too much going on today, so it's a pretty leisurely day. And the rest of the week looks much the same. So, yay some more! I think Josh and I are playing w0w tonight. Tomorrow Josh is going to a hockey game, so I will probly just hang out. We're having people over to play Rock Band on Thursday, and I think that's it for the week! Saturday I'm partying, but I don't have to be back at work til Wednesday, so that'll work out nicely! Yay for holiday time off! Anyway, time to clean off my desk!

Strange Friday
There's something wierd in the air again this week. People have been fucking insane, and somehow, I have kept my cool the entire week. We're still investigating the phenomenon :P Last night was movie night at M's house, and we watched Idocracy. 2 minutes into it, I was like, "Gee, I *wonder* why Fox hated this movie....". It just got worse from there.....*way worse*. I recommend at least one sit-thru of this movie! If you are a smart, jaded, cynical person, you will appreciate it! After that, hot water was had, then I came home and went to bed. I got up this morning and went to work. I called the surgeon's office again cause I hadn't heard from dooder. He called me when I was on my way to the chiro's office. I told him what was up, that I needed his help, and he told me he'd take care of it. Someone's head will roll for this fuckup! I get in and out of the chiro's ok. I'm a little jaded today because of this whole stupid health thing and I wasn't watching what I was saying very carefully and pissed Josh off to the point where I got a "fuck you" and he logged off for the rest of the day. Ooooookay. That must be one hell of a headache he's got! Dood. Painkillers. I got a *whole* drawer of them. Take one. Take two! "I will depart from the wreckage, go to the nearest farmhouse, have a Dr.Pepper, and call the police.". :P So, I'm in the doghouse. And not fighting back the past couple days seems to have gotten me into trouble as well. Seems a little strange to me too, but I'm blaming whatever is in the air that is making people crazy this week. Tonight, I'm going to a party with someone, and then the rest of the weekend I'm not doing anything. And it will be good!

Missy's 3x Thursday
You have been granted 3 wishes! However, you have to use your wishes on 3 separate people. Who would you choose, what would you wish for them, and why? (Usual genie rules apply: no falling in love, no bringing back people from the dead, and no extra wishes) 1. I'd wish for my mom to finally get her shit together and finally be a happy person. Why? Because everyone deserves to be happy. 2. I'd wish for the people of the U.S. and the World in general, that the U.S. government would be fixed in such a way where it'd be a 'perfect democracy/capitalist society. Afterall, it's a wish! This would affect things like the economy, foreign policy, and the general welfare of the people. 3. I would never do something silly like wish for us to have no disease (afterall, you need natural selection and population to control to survive) and famine, but I would wish everyone in the world to have healthcare that was *really* healthcare. People wouldn't suffer (both mentally and physically) from the result of bad healthcare. People wouldn't starve because their government doesn't care from them enough to help them out. A pipe-dream, but a dream nonetheless.

Are ya kiddin' me?
So, a recap of the past 10 months: 1. January and February brought my car being stolen (and all the month-long crap that went along with it), my grandmother dying, and me having to go home and deal with my mother. So, a lot of stress. It was at this time when I started having booty problems. 2. After ignoring these problems for 4 months, violent mood swings caused me to go see colon-rectal guy *and* my MD. Colon rectal guy diagnosed a tear and suggested a course of OTC treatments first. MD put me on hormones to balance the mood swings. 3. Things start to heal and balance until late August/Sept when things get worse again. I let this go until the middle of October, until I got back into both doctor's offices on the same day. Surgeon says I should have surgery for my tear, and MD ups my hormones. I should mention here that my cycle is completely screwed up, but the mood swings aren't any worse. 4. I have the surgery and things are okay for a few weeks and then a week after T-Day, *boom*, things blow up again. I go and see the surgeon on 12/10 who says that he thinks the problem is up north somewhere and that I need to go talk to a G.I. who will give me a colonoscopy to see what the problem is. Surgeon calls G.I.'s office (in front of me) and gets me an appointment. G.I.'s office faxes me the paperwork to fill out. I do this and include a 2 page detailed explanation of what has been going on, and fax everything back. 5. This morning, the G.I.'s office calls and says the following: "After looking at your paperwork, the doctors don't think theres anything they can do for you, and they said you should go see a colon-rectal surgeon". Um....did you guys see that a colon-rectal surgeon sent me to you? Did you guys see the 4 or 5 times I mentioned colon-rectal surgeon in the explanation? Better yet, did you idiots even *read* what I wrote? 6. So, I called the surgeon's office and let them know that I needed their help with this, and the surgeon is supposed to call me today. But now there's no *way* in hell that I'm going to that G.I. I can't trust him now after this. And so now I will probly be sent to SF to get looked at by the university peoples who know more about this kind of stuff. But good gravy :P So, I'm on 'hold' until the surgeon calls. Until then, I feel like I'm visiting Idiotville on Planet Idiot today :P. And instead of getting completely upset and crying like I did on Monday, I have chosen the bitter and cynical route today. It's doing me better than the upset and crying bit :) "Keep Firing, Assholes!!"

Ups and Downs
Yesterday sucked ass. A lot. Pretty much from beginning to end. First, I woke up at 8:30a (I had Josh set the alarm later for me since I had a dr's apt at 9:30) with a headache. I had some coffee and a shower and drove to the doctor's office. Then that asshole butt doctor made me wait over an hour in the waiting room with 3 women who talked nothing about clothes, make-up, and the fact that they liked to make people uncomfortable in waiting rooms by striking up conversations until the other person would talk. Seriously. However, they wouldn't talk about *why* they were in a butt doctor's office because it was a 'taboo subject'. The entire time, I kept thinking to myself, "Oh please lord, please save me". I finally got to go see the doctor, whom I was very direct and short with. And he told me that while he thought the tear was healing, he had no explanation for why I was still in pain. So now I have to go see a G.I. on Friday to schedule a colonoscopy so they can try and figure out what the hell is wrong with me. The whole thing is highly frusterating, and for someone to tell me that I have phantom pains or that there's nothing they can do is bullshit. So, hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it soon, but it's going to be a good month or so. Until then, it's pain meds and creams. But that's the #1 reason I was such in a horrible mood yesterday. I was extremely frusterated, and it didn't seem like there was any light at the end of the tunnel. I got home and cleaned up a little, then played GH for a little while until Stefi came over for dinner. Josh made french dip sammiches for dinner. They were goooooood. I battled with my headache until about 10:30p and then gave up and went to bed. Sunday night, it came to pass that either my new iPo was fucked up, or my windows machine and iTunes hate each other once and for all. Either was totally possible. But it was so fuct that I had to return the iPo to the factory settings multiple times. And even then, WinAmp wouldn't play nicely with it at *all*. The last test was to install a fresh copy of iTunes onto a freshly formatted PC, and see if it worked then. Since Josh had just reformatted the tower in the livingroom, this was our test platform. He moved all 90 gigs over there with zero problem! w00! I listened to it on the way to work this morning with no problems. I was leery of the WinAmp situation, so I uninstalled the version I had installed, rebooted, then installed the latest version. It asked me what kind of iPo I had and then 'wallah'!, it's happy! So, yay!!!! I'm *so* glad I don't have to send back my iPo! That would be teh suck. When I get my Mac, I'll have to reformat the iPo and put everything back on there again, but it won't be an issue then, so I'm not worried about it. I have named my iPo 'Teh Brick'. Now, I need to get a *case* for said Brick and we'll be all set! Also on Sunday, Hickory and Ivan came over to play Rock Band with us. We usually shut things down around 10p, but we got carried away and didn't stop playing until 11p. Instead of knocking on our door and asking us to turn down the volume, one of my idiot neighbors left a NastyGram on my doorstep. Now why in the hell would you do such a thing? How can you get your way by being a passive aggressive ass like that? Do they *really* think I would tell them to go to hell if they asked me to turn down the music? I've had 2 noise complaints in 2 months by 2 different passive-aggressive people who are too chicken shit to ask me to be more quiet because they are trying to sleep. I can't help you if you don't help me to help you, idiots! So, as a fix, I made a note to put on the front door telling people that we're playing a music video game and if we're being too loud, to actually *knock* on the door and we'll gladly turn it down for them. People are fskin stupid. *shakes head* So, today's a new day, and it's been good and productive and all of that. I made a Target run before work, so all that stuff is taken care of. I don't have anything going on tonight or tomorrow, which is good. I think I may go visit with Steph for a few mins after work today, but that's about it. Thursday, Josh is taking Helen in to get fixt, and then I'm picking her up in the afternoon. After that, it's Movie Night at M's house. Friday night, I'm going to a party with "I", and then I'm not doing *anything else* for the rest of the weekend but be lazy. Anyway, I gotz work to do!

The Apple Birthday
I had a really good birthday yesterday! First, "I" and I went to Lois the Pie Queen for a soul food breakfast and it was fskin' heavenly as usual! I got home around 3p to find a pretty bouquet of flowers and a 160gb iPo from Josh! w00h00! Now, my music collection is ~100, so um...time to get more music! But adding all that music to my iPo is prooving to be a bit more tricky than it should be because Apple hates windows, but I'm getting there. Smooty is getting my 4gig iPo, so she will finally be joining the digital age. Anyway, after discovering my huge-assed music collector, I was *then* told that my dad is getting me a 20 inch iMac for my birthday as well! 2.4, 500gig, 2 gigs of memory...mmmm. It'll play w0w! I should have it either this week or next week. And I have a handful of people willing to help me figure out how to use the damn thing, so that'll be cool. So..yay, a new computer! I've never gotten a new puter (like, brand spankin new, already put together and ready to use) before! After that, we went to the Sharks game where they got spanked 7-1, but it was still fun! We got home about 11:30 and crapped around for awhile then went to bed. I got up about 10:30a this morning and I had coffee, then we went to the pet store, TJs, and then Safeway, and then we came home and put it all away. I took a shower, started moving music to my iPo, and now here I am! Anyway, time to go play xbox360 and wii with Josh and Hickory!

Fsking Friday....finally!
It wasn't a bad week or anything, but I'm still glad it's over! Monday, Steph & Whit did indeed come over for risotto and hanging out, and it was awsome. Tuesday, I did laundry, and Hickory came over and hung out with us for a few hours for some Rock Band goodness. Wednesday, I went over to M's and we watched Apocalypse Now and sat in the hottub. Yesterday, I had Munchkin Duty. It was fun and productive as usual! I came home to find Matt Horton hanging out with Josh, trying to explain C# to him. We played a little Rock Band, and then Matt went home and we went to bed. Tonight, I think Ivan is taking me to have Ethiopian (at my request because I wanted to try something new) food for my boofday, which is tomorrow. And then tomorrow evening, Josh and I are going to the Sharks game. I don't think there's anything on the agenda for Sunday. I had to get almost $600 worth of work done on my car this week, which sucked. Josh helped me out with most of it tho because he's the bestest boyfriend evar. He really is :). So, the car is once again fixed, and I am once again greatful that it still runs as perfectly as it does with 170k miles on it. Anyway, I wanna go home, so I'm outta here!

They never learn....
My first and only real complaint about the day is the following: Those stupid-assed video game companies just don't get it, do they? Look at the upcoming downloads available for Rock Band. Does any of that look like stuff you'd buy and play? I wouldn't. Where are my full-length albums (one a week) that I was promised? Where are the tracks I *really* want to play? Huh? And even tho I personally like GH3 way better than Rock Band, *their* downloadable content hasn't been anything to write home about either. Foo Fighers (*barf) and QOTSA? Don't get me wrong, I like QOTSA, but who cares about playing their music? Where's my GnR? Where's my RHCP? Where's my Metallica? Or, am I the only one complaining? If these companies want my money, they're going to have to cater to me too. I know I'm *not* the only one who listens to 'crap' music :P I had another relxaxing weekend! Friday, I went to A's going away party, then went and hung out with "I". Saturday, I bummed around home in the afternoon, then around 7, Josh and I went to Adri's boofday party, which was fun! He left early because he wasn't feeling sociable, and so I arranged for a ride home. Meaning, I could drink and someone would cart my sorry ass home...right? *I* ended up being the DD and carting someone home instead :P Oh well...I wasn't up to drinking much in the end anyway. I still had fun! I slept in pretty late yesterday, got some sushi, and then finally made it home. Josh and I watched some TV, then I watched my crap show and went to bed. Tonight, Steph & Whit are coming over for dinner. I believe Josh is making his famous chicken risotto. Mmmmm. Tomorrow is probly laundry night, as I think I have like 2 pairs of boxers left :P. Wednesday is movie night at M's. I haven't seen him since he got back from his vacation, so there's some substantial catching up to do! Thursday, I have munchkin duty til midnight. Bosslady has to go out on business that day, so I'm gonna have out with The Three Munchkins. Friday...I dunno what I'm doing. Saturday, I'm spending my boofday evening by being the good luck charm at the Sharks game so they'll win. In ug news: I'm pretty convinced (because I'm having the same problems again) that my surgery did not work, and I will most likely have to have it again after Xmas. Oh joy! Are ya ready to go thru this again? It'll be fun! :P. I'm a bit irritated because I think all they did was 'clean out the area' instead of actually closing it up (according to procedural documentation), so if I'm really feeling like a smartass on Monday, I may bring a needle and thread to give to my surgeon at my appointment. "Here...fix it right this time!". :P So anyway, it looks like the 2nd half of the week'll be busy!
